Organic Modern Design with New Harrison Sofa

Comfort. Designing a space that rides the line of Organic Modern style fully encompasses the word “comfort.” Organic Modern style is dependent on texture and shape. It generally pieces together a blend of the Scandinavian, rustic, and mid-century modern designs that we all adore! I was inspired by the Harrison Sofa and a wonderful Feizy rug to create a Organic Modern Design moodboard.

In this modern style, the furniture tends to look bigger in mass, due to the higher surface area sitting closer to the ground. Don’t worry! This doesn’t mean you are always sitting lower too! This simply helps us to feel more grounded to our spaces and more connected to the earth.

I’ve paired Norwalk’s Harrison Sofa with the Cremini ottomans and Vanguard’s Dune Game Chair. All of these are upholstered with fabric and leather that are drawn toward the Fiezy Amira Rug. The natural tones and color that pop from this rug, really connect all of these pieces and complete this selection. Give it a couple gold accents, add in a beautiful floor lamp, end table and the Forehands Atmore Coffee Table, and this is now ready to inspire your own space at home!

Many of the furniture pieces are simplified shapes that resemble that of our natural surroundings. By this I mean circles, squares, rounded and curved surfaces, though not too complex, and often wider. They may be perfect shapes, and they may be loose. It really is in the eye of the beholder and your preferred taste! The “Modern” part of the name, Organic Modern, leans more toward the clean and simple forms. We see a lot of that here!

Materials and Finishes

Here is where the organic part of the name comes in. We tend to use more organic materials like wood, stone, granite and maybe even some worn material with patina. And those materials are finished in earthen tones and colors that evoke nature. Again, Organic Modern Style makes us feel more grounded in our surroundings.

Organic Modern design can be so sophisticated and comfortable all at the same time. It is unique and fits many spaces! Is this your style? Take our style quiz and find out!
