A Comfy Sun Room with Great Views

Conversation is critical to interior design.

Kay recently came into by Design for the first time — and I was lucky enough to get to know her.  We hit it off immediately.

Kay and her husband had been in their home for about a year and a half.  They were comfortably settled and she had a good idea about what she would like to accomplish.  She loved the potential of the sun room: it had big windows facing the lush views of the golf course.  In designing the room, she did not want to block the view with tall furniture.

She did want the room to be “cozy” and “comfy”.  Comfort is obviously a matter of sit and touch.  But, it is also a matter of appearance.  So we wanted the room to look comfortable and to be comfortable.

Kay also reported a bad experience ordering furniture from the internet.  Scary.  I really wanted to make this experience a great one for her.

Our furniture solution used a Copley Square sectional with a chaise lounge (great reading spot!) and two Zazu swivel chairs (to enjoy the view).  We added an area rug to soften up the dark wood floor and visually unite the pieces.  A Pouf ottoman if fun and functional.  The color scheme is fresh yet serene.  We mixed earthy and spa tones and added colorfully patterned pillows in teal for some pop.

Kay uses the swivel chairs all the time to put her feet up on the window sill and enjoy her great view.  She says its their new favorite room in the house!  I’m so glad I got the chance to work with Kay – we had so much fun!
