A Comfortable Living Remodel

When Rich & Christy came into By Design, they were surprised to find that we have furniture that actually “fit” them and that they could have it customized to get exactly what they wanted.

Laura explained the design process and how she could make it so easy for them. The couple quickly set up a home visit where she could see the space and guide them to the perfect solution for both comfort and lifestyle.

The Design Process

The client’s family gathers in their family room frequently, so their goal was to maximize seating and give the room a visual lift with a refreshing color palette. Combining new and existing furniture, Rich and Christy’s collected style was sure to wow!

Floor Plan with Furniture Selections

The first thing Laura noticed when entering their space was a beautiful stained glass window. Christy mentioned that it was a special gift from her mom when they built their home in 1983. Together, they decided it would become a wonderful color inspiration for their newly updated room.

Visual Connection Between the Window and Fabrics

Once they found the patchwork ottoman and pillow fabric that played off of the stained glass, the rest fell into place! The interplay of colors worked beautifully to lighten and brighten their room while drawing attention back to their cherished window.

A Comfortable Living Space

Laura’s clients fell in love with their living room all over again! It was inviting, comfortable, and uplifting; just what they wanted! From brown and tan tones to a coordinated color scheme, they knew this updated look would stand the test of time.

The two Pablo Ottomans were a nice addition as they naturally fill awkward space under the TV. The ottomans are easy to maneuver on their casters and can float around the room with ease. They can act as a footstool or even a place to set a book or drink.

The patchwork fabric translates nicely from the ottomans to the throw pillows, which in turn compliments the blue sofa. The navy leather on the chairs adds a change in texture from the Evanston sofa, as well as a strong blue-on-blue contrast. Through using two different chair styles, this gives the couple individualized comfort.

With timeless appeal, personalized design, and a functional layout, this comfortable living room is exactly what the client was desiring. Their refreshing “new” room perfectly combines their special family treasures with the ease of their updated furniture . . . and fits everyone perfectly!
