My Design Journey
I graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Creative and Technical Design, which led me to my first post-grad job at the Headquarters of Abercrombie & Fitch in New Albany, Ohio. There I spent three years as a Technical Designer (an “engineer” of clothing, if you will), where any given day was spent making and checking patterns, requesting samples, inspecting construction accuracy, researching new fit developments, communicating with vendors overseas, and much more. No two days were ever the same and attention to detail was a must.
I learned so much from my time in Ohio, and when I decided it was time for a change in location (my family is from Southwest Iowa), I also decided it was time to change avenues in the realm of design. I packed my bags, headed for Des Moines, and found by Design – a wonderful Interior Design and custom furniture store where I can use my educational background in textiles, my experience in design, and my love of helping people to bring a fresh, meaningful look to the home of every client I work with.
