An Apartment with Big Potential

Different Spaces = Different Interior Design Challenges

I got a call from a lady named Lou in West Des Moines. She said that she had read one of my blogs and loved what I did. She wanted to work with me! It’s fun to get feedback and encouraging to know that people are reading my blogs. She said she wanted help with designing her apartment. Here are some before pictures of her space:

You can see that she had a nice mission look happening with warm colors and textures.

For our re-design, we chose a two piece Summerton Sectional from Vanguard.  Summerton has modern, quite symmetrical lines, interesting low and wide feet and a distinctly designed track arm (see arm detail below). It really updates the space and ties in some furniture she already has – and wanted to keep. The gray fabric is a nice color tone that acts as a foundation for this room.

Lou really likes orange – so this was a really fun accent color to pop throughout the space in the Wendy swivel chair, Del Ray ottoman, and pillows. She wanted more light in her space so we added a couple of lamps- a floor and table lamp- to bring some light in the space. Plus she can move the lamps around her space as she decides where she wants more light.

It’s not too often that I get to design an apartment, so it was refreshing to do something a little different.

We are now working on artwork for the wall over the sectional. Thank you so much for being a fun client Lou!
