When I first met Rita, we found a shared fondness for color. You should consider using colors in your home’s interior design. Here’s why:
Rita was looking to liven up the living room of her Urbandale home. As is often the case, her living room is the first room you see when you enter. And we know first impressions matter. Here is where we started:
I couldn’t help noticing her fun art when I visited her home. It gave us an opportunity and a path forward. Her art became the inspiration and we let the creativity flow from there.
We used a colorful “boho” rug to set the tone. It gave us a great backdrop for her furnishings. A favorite piece in the room is the Carly bench with it’s bright, almost rug-like, upholstery. It looks as though it could have been a treasured heirloom. Handed down over the years – and used from room to room. The teal Stephanie swivel glider and ottoman make for a cozy window reading spot.
Fresh and colorful. Exciting even! (Yet the neutral sofa adds a degree of serenity). I love the way the colors cascade down from the art to the throw pillows. Then on to the bench and rug. Colorful yet crisp and clean.
I think we accomplished our eye-catching, tone-setting first impression. Using warm color was key to this home interior design. But, first impressions aside, Rita especially enjoys it’s colorful glow as she comes down the stairs each morning. A room that brings a smile to start each day! Now that is a good thing.
Rich, glowing color can work for any design style. Do you want your home to reflect your own style? I think anyone that knows Rita would say this is tailor made for her.
