Recent clients of Jessica’s have been long-time BY DESIGN fans. As they say, their “whole house is from BY DESIGN.” So when they were working on a large-scale remodel of their home in West Des Moines, they decided they wanted a new look for their furniture as well. Naturally, they returned to BY DESIGN for help.
The interior design home remodeling project included brighter paint colors, white wood trim, new light fixtures, and new walnut hardwood floors throughout. Their goal was for the new furniture to be comfortable for the whole family and work well with their new color palette.
Being avid BY DESIGN shoppers, they had a pretty good idea of what kinds of pieces they were looking for. Jessica helped in setting up a furniture layout and selecting fabrics, leathers, and finishes that would complement all the updates they were making in their home.
LIVING ROOM
The new color palette created a neutral gray backdrop. While also layering in different textures and patterns from tweed to velvet and geometric to chevron. Caramel accents in the pillows and leather tops of the storage ottomans played up the beautiful warmth from the new walnut floors.
The finished product was such a beautiful transformation! The many forms of texture from the velvet chairs to the “sheepskin” pillows make the room feel so inviting and dynamic.
KITCHEN & DINING ROOM
The home’s layout has an open floor plan between the kitchen, dining room, and living room. This means there were a lot of elements at play that needed to work together as one big picture. Part of the interior design home remodeling included new light fixtures and hardware with gold accents.
The counter stools were the perfect addition to really play up the other gold accents. The gold metal really pops against the new black kitchen island. The faux leather offers durability and cleanability which is perfect for this family with young kids. The custom dining table is expandable to accommodate for extra guests.
