We renovated an old fishing cottage in 1996 at Spirit Lake. It was tons of work. My husband did most of the work – with an experienced area carpenter to help. After extensive renovation, we decorated it in red, blue and yellow. Classic! And we loved it. Our kids ate on the furniture, sat in their wet swim clothes, etc but we loved that furniture. Well, our kids are grown and we thought we wanted a new look. So this summer–we gave our furniture to our daughter (still looks great) and went with all shades of white furniture. Then we threw in blues for the accent. I love the serenity. It is our escape. We love the south shore of Spirit Lake.

A postscript. We sold our beloved cottage a few years ago. But, we still love the memories. And the look.
