Our challenge was a 2nd home in Arizona. Our goal was to create a comfort filled space that feels right at home in its surroundings. That’s where this Desert Modern interior design style fits in perfectly. It is composed of clean lines, subtle patterns, inviting textures. Finally, add in accents of rich, warm hues that invoke a desert scape and you’re getting it.
I have worked with Toni for years here in Des Moines. And I’ve loved it. Recently she asked “Is there a way to continue working together on my new condo in Arizona?” Of course, I determined to make it happen. We were able to achieve this through plans from the builder, photos from a similar model and many meetings here in our store. (It is not unusual for BY DESIGN to work on projects out of town or even in other states. We just have to arrange a company to receive, inspect and deliver the furniture on that end.)

Take note of the generous 60″ square dining table from Saloom. I think the two different dining chair styles add so much visual interest. Even their covers are different, but the finish ties them together.

We wanted to create a comfort-filled space that really extends into the outdoors. This great room even has sliding exterior doors that open her space right onto the veranda! The warm woods tones contrast with the neutral textures of the upholstery, area rug and inviting leather chairs. Everyone gets a comfy spot in this room! The caramel leather carries over from the chairs to the backs of the counter stools. The black accents here & there are nice against the wood tones too. Desert modern interior design indeed!
Comfort is critical in the living room. And the Annette cuddle chair and Kaden sectional provide it in spades. Along with great design, of course.
Don’t Overlook Small Opportunities
We nestled two Shiloh ottomans under the custom console table. With their swivel tops, these stools add extra dining or living seating as well as serve as a seat at her small console desk. I love multi-functional pieces!
