Of course it is. Human creativity is frequently a previous idea used in new and interesting ways. Mid-century modern is a perfect example. It was a combination of new and wonderful designs, patterns and ideas that felt fresh and different. And it is perfect material for re-packaging in new and surprising colors and textures.

So let’s break it down. Here is how today’s color trend have been used in this mid-century modern inflected room:

The base and arms of this Ana sofa is a direct homage to the mid-century look. It sets the tone of the room. But, that’s no 1950 finish. It is a very 2016 smoke grey.

 

 

 

 

 

 

What’s more, the gray finish is combined with a white finish and a metal finish on other furniture pieces. A very twenty-first century idea.

 

 

 

The atomic sculpture on the glass-top end table is a wonderful reference to mid-century fascination with our entry into the atomic age. Very cool.
