Gray is staying, but color is coming back strong.
For Fall 2016 High Point market, we saw many fresh new introductions of color in fabric, wood finishes and metal finishes. One of the most exciting was Norwalk Furniture’s new Bright Side collection. It includes many new furniture styles and fabrics that all speak to a broad lifestyle trend that they call Bright Side. The upbeat colorful and casual design trend is getting a double dose of demographic lift, as baby boomers retire to warm resort locations and seek a brighter more laid back lifestyle, and as first time home-owning Millennials set up their living spaces. Even the mega-popular grey tones seem to be receding a bit as lighter and livelier ivory’s (thank you, Crypton), chambray and aqua blues, and tangerine tones have all grown in popularity.
A very sophisticated design in a wonderfully whimsical room. The Parisian sofa has framed, diamond-tufted back and distinctive track arms with a squared front detail.
The Beacon Chair has a partially exposed wood frame with hexagonal turnings reminiscent of a New England lighthouse (hence the name, Beacon). The beacon is both casual and grand. Ferrules on the front legs add the finishing touch.
This new Whistler sofa is on the floor at by Design in Clive right now. You see how well the rug correlates. In fact, the two are part of the same collection, insuring a perfect match for your room.
This is the Whistler chair and ottoman from the collection. Very, very cool.
Below is a fabric board illustrating a few of the fabric choices that we see happening in this pallete. (See… the grays are definitely still there). And this is just one sample of the color directions that you’ll be seeing in this exciting new trend.
We’ll be showing you more of this trend in upcoming posts.
