How to Decorate with Green

Greenery

Just in time for St Paddy’s Day, let’s talk about this year’s cool color – Green!  It’s Pantone’s color of the year, it’s on every “what’s hot in 2017” list we can find and it can really be all things to all people since there are a million shades of green.

Here are three cool ways to add green to your home.

Upholstery

I know buying a new sofa seems like a bold move to take for a trend – but if looking at these gorgeous rooms doesn’t convince you, I don’t know what will.

A green sofa/sectional makes a statement – bam!  You are not a boring person if you can pull off a green sofa.  Here’s one of the cool new motion sofas we’re carrying in a deep, rich green.

But if buying a green sofa seems like too bold of a move…what about a green chair or ottoman?  We’ve got couple really great pieces on our floor – and a green accent piece is timeless.  You won’t have to worry about this one going out of style anytime soon.

Paint

I can speak to this personally – since I’m addicted to painting.  Painting is the cheapest and easiest way to change the look of your home…and I love to do it.  I just painted my kitchen green and I am in love with it.

It was a tough decision for me to make since I grew up in the 90’s which means hunter green (and burgundy) was all the rage.  I did not want to give my pretty kitchen a 90’s vibe.  I did want something bold since we added white quartz countertops and white large-scale tile to the birch shaker style cabinets that came with the house.  I initially painted the kitchen white…but realized quickly that all the life was gone from the kitchen.

I needed a fun color and this pretty dark green/turquoise color (Dark Harbor by Benjamin Moore) has brought the life back to my kitchen!

Plants

Plants are always in style…so you should be adding more plants to your home no matter what the trend! Fiddle leaf figs and indoor fern plants have been popular for a few years now – they are really easy to grow and they can get quite large. Succulents and air plants are another great way to add greenery – look at these adorable little hanging succulent pots from Earthen Joy.
