The Light Wood Finish Trend

The Light Wood Finish Trend

We’re not saying light finishes are supplanting dark ones. They are not. Rather we’re seeing a rising light wood finish trend across furniture and interior design categories in the Casual Styles.

What do you call this? It depends. We’re seeing descriptions of “light oak”, “bleached walnut”, “bleached & spalted oak” and “sun-washed mango”. And whatever term your prefer, it is all about that relaxed, contemporary casual feel that they add to your room.

Casual is the key idea for these pieces in these finishes. This is a great look for the Organic Modern or the California Casual design style lover. And you can see more of these design trends in these posts: Organic Modern Trend and California Casual Trend.

The room below is an interesting example. Neither the wood floors nor the wood bases of the chairs is in a matching light finish. It works well because, for the most part, wood is usually a neutral in terms of room color. It isn’t necessary to match every piece of wood in your home. (However, a few finishes would present a challenge).

So… light wood finishes… Organic Modern design style… California Casual. We would love you to consider these new light finishes… for your perfect room.
